Meet the team: Part 1

With new faces becoming indispensable members of our team, and familiar faces developing their skills every day, we wanted to take a moment to introduce you to them!

Over the next four months we will be introducing you to our dedicated employees, so watch this space for the next members.

Chris Barwick

We will start with Chris Barwick, our Tax Manager, who has almost 25 years' experience working within the accountancy profession, with over 20 of those specialising in personal tax. During this time, he has worked with a wide range of clients from well-known actors and musicians, CEO's, a wide range of medical professionals and barristers to name a few. Chris currently looks after the tax function at Sheards, in particular the landlord clients, to ensure they are kept up to date with ongoing changes in legislation. Chis likes to spend his spare time with his 3 children and watch horror films, although has been unsuccessful in combining the two for now. 3 random facts about Chris:-

  • His first job was on All Creatures Great and Small aged 11
  • He has qualifications in sailing
  • He won a reality TV show on Sky 1!

Amy Walker

Amy Walker is our Payroll Manager and she has 14 years of experience in accounts, tax, bookkeeping and payroll, with 6 years at Sheards. She has done 2 years in payroll, completing over 100 payrolls each month and running over 45 auto enrolment schemes alongside the payroll. Amy loves long walks on the moors surrounding Huddersfield, going to Gym classes and keeping active. She enjoys being sociable, going out with friends and meeting new people. She has a passion for good food and likes cooking and baking. Not so secret Harry Potter and Disney Fan. Amy loves being an Auntie to her nephews and nieces.


Lynne
Waddington

Lynne Waddington has worked at Sheards for over 30 years and has seen many changes, from technology, to regulation and company changes. Lynne started out as Office Junior, working on reception, going out for sandwiches, operating a 'peg' switchboard and went on to work as a shorthand typist, typing all invoices and accounts. She continues her work on reception, using new computerised systems and has developed the role into what it is today, managing the front of house, and supporting the growing team of staff and clients.


Lucy Smith

Lucy Smith, as Practice Manager, looks after the staff team, the clients and events. Lucy has over 15 years of Business management experience, from Hospitality and Tourism, to Health care and Charity sectors. Outside of work, Lucy is a volunteer at the local Samaritans branch, writes blogs for a regional website, and likes to cycle to work. At weekends, you will find Lucy running, walking her dog, or enjoying live music and wine, with friends.

Lynne, Amy, Lucy and Chris have contributed to Sheards in their own way; thanks to them, the office runs smoothly every day and clients are well looked after.
