In our industry, apprenticeships are a great way to build a talent pipeline within your business, developing existing staff whilst introducing new talent into your organisation via an apprenticeship.
In addition to the benefits of having a lower cost than recruiting skilled staff, apprenticeships also help to tackle the issues of skills shortages in certain industries. Using our staffing model, we're able to train apprentices in our specific needs and requirements; with a mixture of on and off-the-job training, our apprentices contribute to our business productivity while developing their own skills.
We have always found our apprentices to be motivated and eager to learn. Of our current workforce, 3 members of staff began their careers as an apprentice here at Sheards which is a fantastic retention rate for our industry.

Jack Fosbrook
After joining the Sheards team as an Apprentice Accountant in 2017, Jack is now working towards his AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification. A main part of Jack's job is to file sets of accountants and tax returns. Away from work, he devotes a lot of his spare time to walking his 2 Siberian Huskies, Enzo and Luna or working on his Vauxhall Corsa!
Alice Spencer
Our Apprentice Accountant Alice, is also studying towards her AAT qualification while working with the Cloud Accounting Team. Using software like Quickbooks, Alice is able to keep records for clients and assist them with general day-to-day enquiries. When she's not in work, Alice challenges herself to bake, while pretending she's on Bake Off! A keen adventurer, she has dreams of travelling around Asia in the near future!
