It was held at the QE11 Conference Centre in London, where 300 forward thinking accountants would be attending.
After a brief hike around the tourist hotspots on Wednesday evening, covering Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Whitehall, Traveller Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown, they were ready to take part in a full day conference based on the Changing Face of Accountancy.
Led by Ian Fletcher and Gorgon Gilchrist of the 2020 Innovation Group, the conference covered upcoming changes in business accountancy in the UK, including Making Tax Digital for VAT in April 2019, and for all businesses in 2020.
Guest speaker, Justin Urquhart-Stewart of 7IM, a highly respected economist, delivered a highly informative and entertaining section on the Economy and Brexit, including the economies of the UK, USA, Russia, China and Europe.
Brad Burton, founder of 4networking and a renowned motivational speaker, told his own personal business story and is an inspiration to all businesses. His life line diagram, hit home quite hard, particularly to the over 50s in the room!
Final speaker of the day was Debra Searle (MVO, MBE), an amazing lady, extolling the virtues of a great attitude and who rowed the Atlantic single handed over 3.5 months, having been abandoned by her husband just 2 weeks into the journey...They are no longer married to each other!
To sum up, the conference was a fantastic event to spend time working on our own business rather than in it, and to find new ideas to inspire and motivate our own team and our clients here at Sheards.
