August marks a momentous month for Sheards Accountants, with two employees celebrating milestone anniversaries at the firm.
Kevin Sanders is celebrating 20 years and Rebecca Nicholas is celebrating 10 years, both of whom work as accountants for the organisation.
Following an interview on his 18th birthday, Kevin joined Sheards and was soon offered support to further his studies through an apprenticeship scheme. Fast forward a few years and Kevin now specialises in audit and companies act accounts with clients ranging from charity/not for profits to construction and manufacturing.
Kevin commented:
“I was given a fantastic opportunity at Sheards to work alongside my studies; I was straight out of school and University just didn’t appeal to me. And here I am 20 years later! One of the most rewarding things about working for Sheards is the fundraising we undertake. It’s fantastic that the team pulls together to raise money for some really worthwhile local charities. We have a really great team here at Sheards, one I am proud to be a part of.”
Rebecca, who started at Sheards after graduating from University, has developed and grown into her current role where she now manages a portfolio of clients with a specialism in healthcare, particularly GP practices.
Rebecca commented:
“When I first started at Sheards, I soon began my professional ACCA exams. The firm were extremely supportive which allowed me to progress at my own pace whilst building my confidence. Passing my exams are a stand out memory for me; they were incredibly tough and I was so proud to get through them. I wouldn’t have done it without the support from my amazing colleagues.”
